How it works
How it works: we connect you, an independent local pro quotes and does the job
Describe a problem with a window, door, mirror or shower in your Markham home or business. We hand the request to an independent professional nearby who takes on that type of job, and that business quotes it. If you accept, they do the work under their own contract. There's no charge to you for the request, and no duty to accept any quote.
A matching service, not an installer
Markham Windows matches jobs with the people who do them; it doesn't do them itself. We don't employ glaziers, keep a showroom or sell windows. The businesses we pass requests to are independent: they measure, supply the glass or part, do the work and stand behind it. Price, contract and warranty are settled between you and that business.
Having nothing to sell lets us say plainly when a new sealed unit or crank is enough. The pro confirms it on site.
After you submit: who sees it, who calls, what a quote covers
We forward what you give us: your name, phone number, email, address, the description and any photos. It goes to the pro taking on your job so they can quote it, and isn't shared for any other purpose. The privacy policy sets out what we store and the choices you have about it.
That pro gets in touch about size, glass type, access and timing. A photo quote is a useful start, but only a start: once someone measures a two-storey foyer unit or finds a soft sill, the scope can change, and a good pro explains why before anything is ordered.
What we follow up on. Quotes that never arrive are a common complaint in this trade, so we check back: was your request picked up, did someone contact you, did a quote follow? If it stalled, let us know and we'll pass it to another pro. We don't control timing or price, only that a request isn't left sitting.
Heritage-district owners. The City's 2026 Heritage Property Grant asks for two professional quotes for the same scope of work. If you're applying, say so in your request, and we'll tell you honestly whether we can reach two pros who take on heritage window work. Our heritage guide covers the permit side.
Your rights with the pro you hire
Ontario's consumer rules apply to the contract you sign with the pro. Three are worth knowing:
- Contracts signed at home. You can generally cancel without giving a reason during a cooling-off period, counted from the day you get your written copy of the agreement. See Ontario's page on door-to-door sales and home service contracts.
- Written estimates. Under the Consumer Protection Act, the final bill generally can't climb far past the original estimate without your agreement (summary from McMillan LLP). Get it in writing and keep it.
- Licences. Glazing is a non-compulsory trade in Ontario, so a pro doesn't need a trade licence to fit glass. Ask what similar windows they've worked on instead.
Questions to ask any pro before you sign
We don't rank companies. Ask whoever quotes:
- Does the written quote list each item: the glass, removal of the old unit, disposal and any trim work?
- Are you quoting a new sealed unit, a new sash or a whole window, and will the grilles match the others?
- For a shaped or second-storey unit, is access equipment included?
- What warranty comes with the glass and with the labour, and who do I call if a new unit fogs?
- In a heritage district or a condo, who applies for the heritage permit or the board's approval?
The FAQ answers more, and the terms of use cover the formal side.
Disclosure: Markham Windows is a free referral service and carries out no installation or repair. Each quote, and all of the work, comes from independent businesses serving Markham and nearby York Region.

It takes a couple of minutes. A line about the problem, your neighbourhood and a photo or two are plenty.
